Extra Life Insurance Cover

With all types of life insurance policy there will be various conditions or extras available in the policy that could be considered before agreeing to the policy. Obviously we are not able to determine when we will need the payout and what situation we will be in but it is best to be covered for some of the possible eventualities.

Some life insurance policies will include critical illness insurance cover where a lump sum will be paid out if the policy holder is diagnosed with a critical illness such as cancer, brain tumour, suffers from a heart attack or a stroke. The types of critical illness may vary from policy to policy and these need to be checked before agreeing to the contract. At this time in your life you may be unable to keep up with the premiums and the diagnoses will cause trauma within the family. The critical illness cover will help the family tackle the situation. This is similar to a terminal illness benefit which is a clause in a life insurance policy where if you are suffering from a terminal illness and are predicted to die in the next 12 months they will pay out a lump sum on this being confirmed. This again will help you cope with the illness and any financial worries that you may have.

Built into many life insurance policies is an option to waiver the payments, which covers you for maybe times in the term of the life insurance policy when you may need to break the payment due to unemployment or ill health. This flexibility in the life insurance policy is normally only available after a few years of paying premiums, and during the break in payments the life insurance company will cover the premiums.
